We’ve all been there.  Credit cards, store-cards, loans, overdrafts; not a day goes by without each and every one of us being offered credit in one form or another.  Buy a pair of shoes and the assistant will extol the virtues of applying for their store-card.  10% off your purchases!  Holiday vouchers!  Buy now, pay later!  And we do.  Because what they don’t tell you is that if you don’t keep up your repayments, the interest could be financially crippling.  But we get the store-card, and the credit card, and we take out a loan for a new kitchen or that dream holiday, saying ‘I’ll pay that off, no problem’. 

However, our debts have a habit of spiralling out of control before we realise what’s happened.  How many of us have made purchases on our credit cards and when the statement has arrived simply paid the minimum amount?  We’ve all done it.  Unfortunately, in doing this, the debt doesn’t come down.  And what if we can’t afford to make a larger payment?  The overdraft is at its limit and loan repayments are eating up everything else.  Before you know what’s happening, you’re actually paying out more per month than you have coming in.  So what do we do?  We get another loan, to consolidate…

NO!

Another loan is the last thing you need.  Everybody experiences financial difficulties at one stage or another in their life.  Everybody gets into debt.  The media tells us that being in debt is normal and it’s nothing to worry about.  This is wrong.  There is no embarrassment in being in debt, however there comes a time when we must stop, and draw a line under everything, take back control of lives.
